Is Apple taking over the world?

I was driving through Shanghai's trendy Xintiandi last night and came across a huge flashy Apple store. It was amazing the see a large crowd (most young people) eager to get their hands on the latest Apple gadgets. Close to oblivion in 1997, Apple is now the world's second-most valuable company, after Exxon Mobil Corp. Apple dethroned Microsoft as the world's most valuable technology company a year ago. It shipped a record 18.65 million iPhones during the first quarter of 2011. Its iPad tablet computers are so popular that it can't make enough to meet demand. Goldman Sachs predicts that more than 30 percent of iPads may replace PC sales. Is Apple taking over the world? Is there anything the other IT firms can do to fight back?

Yes, to a certain extent. Apple has always been well ahead in terms of technology against its competitors. MP3s in the past have now been replaced by the the i-pod. Right now, the only main competitors to the i-phone are the Android phones and BlackBerries. However, I believe Apple will never be able to take over the corporate world.

Fair comments. However, it seems many consumers would rather pay more for Apple products than others. I think user experience is one of their most important selling points. A BestBuy sales agent told me very few customers buy other brand tablet computers even though they are much cheaper compared to the Apple iPad.

I think no because of there high price and incompability with other devices/software.
